The reflection of digital business and technology

Based on the process of learning digital business models, I have determined that the impact of digital business models. And I have found that a wide range of aspects is affected by digital technology. For example, there are many position and company which has been changed. In addition, digital technology is not far away from our lives; people’s life is affected by digital technology.

Firstly, many kinds of jobs are impacted by digital technology. According to Alexander’s blog (2020), more and more marketers use the internet to collect market data and economic or financial data. It is very convenient because marketers can access these kinds of data online, they would not need to spend the amount of time to collect. On the other hand, marketers can use the AI system to analyze collected data, and then the marketer can make a decision based on the analysis result. In addition, Tang’s blog (2020) pointed out that HRM is also affected. Applicants can send their information to the digital platform, and HRM will be able to view their application information online. HRM can interview applicants by FaceTime or other APPs which can be used to video call.

The digital business model can impact an organization or corporate. The digital business model helps the entrepreneur establishes now the company, and it can help the company get more competitive and benefits. MAO (2020) wrote in his blog, In China, Pinduoduo is a new online shopping platform. This company selects a group of people who are low and middle-income levels. This group of people is the Pinduoduo target market. Because of the new digital business model, Pinduoduo has tried to promote its platform and activities. As a result, it makes a large number of benefits and profits. Some financial companies use a digital business model to reduce risk levels. For example, According to Lewis’s blog (2020), Lloyd’s of London analyzes historical data to predict the risk of their commercial production. It helps the manager to overcome the disadvantages of traditional methods. The digital business model not only improves companies’ business but also bring negative impacts. For instance, a company needs to spend an amount of money to run their digital business model.

The digital business model has affected people’s lives, it brings a lot of benefits to us, although there are changes that people do not realize digital technology bring. For example, online shopping makes people’s life more convenient, and different platform serves different target marketing. Digital technology has been used in aspects; in the future, I need to learn more knowledge about digital, and then using digital technology to improve my work.

The digital business model-Amazon Web Service

In a highly competitive society, with the vigorous development of the technology industry, the digital business model has been a new business model that is different from the traditional business model, has brought an unprecedented storm of reform. Digital business is known and accepted by more and more companies,and digital business model has changed the traditional mode originally, it is in improving the enterprise’s management level and competitiveness, reduce the operation cost, shorten the distance between transactions with customers. So many companies are using digital business models to promote their trade. For example, Alibaba, Google, and Amazon have their web services.

Amazon’s adoption of the digital trading model has brought the company substantial competitive advantages and benefits. Amazon is different from many enterprises, and its digital business model drives amazon to launch new products and services at a breakneck pace, which does not require a long period of research, analysis, and other steps. Because amazon developed its web services system early. its consumers automatically leave precious reviews and purchase data for the company when they use Amazon. With these data, amazon can analyze the big data through its AWS, analyze the truth behind these data in detail, accurately evaluate its new products, and quickly answer the question of whether and how the products should continue to be promoted (Bermudez,2013). This process of amazon reflects the concept of taking consumers as the centre and improves the product through the true reflection of consumers, thus reducing the cost of many research data.

In the current market competition, enterprises must learn to figure out the preferences of each consumer in order to provide products that meet the needs of the majority of consumers. In the first three quarters of 2012 alone, amazon generated $39.8 billion in revenue, a considerable increase from the prior period. Amazon owes much of this transformation to its dominant AWS. One of the most potent aspects of amazon’s online store system is the ability to use AWS to allow customers to discover their underlying needs. When a customer enters amazon’s online store, he or she finds some “popular combinations” or recommendations for the most selected products. These are the hooks that attract customers to discover their potential needs (Jackson,2011).

On the other hand, when amazon makes recommendations to customers, its customer experience is extraordinary. People shopping on the Internet because of the goods too many, amazon uses its AWS to accurate recommendations for users, not only helps the user to shorten the decision-making time but also increases the conversion rate. Because Amazon gives a lot of real data, it makes customers trust and loyalty to it in a short time. In amazon’s AWS system, each user’s profile records all purchases and browsing by that user (Amazon, 2018). Amazon’s product evaluation system also summarizes and reflects customers’ preference for products from another aspect. Amazon turns this data into a profile of its customers, telling them point-in-point about the reliability and intentions of its recommendations.

Because there is massive data that is needed to analyze, people’s decisions often lag behind those of machines. There are Much marketing, search engines, and decision making on the Internet, these are done with big data science. Therefore, big data analysis is becoming more and more critical for companies. In order to meet the needs of other companies, amazon has integrated its web services for other companies, which has increased amazon’s revenue. In April 2015, Amazon announced that its AWS was profitable, with sales of $1.57 billion and revenue of $265 million in the first quarter. In October, Amazon reported an operating profit of $521 million for AWS in the third quarter, with an operating margin of 25 per cent. AWS reported revenue of $2.1 billion in the third quarter of 2015, up 78% from $1.17 billion in the third quarter of 2014. Revenue at the AWS division rose 69.5 %, with $2.4bn in the fourth quarter of 2015, with an operating margin of 28.5 per cent, and its operating margin is $9.6bn. In 2015, Gartner estimated that AWS customers deployed ten times as much infrastructure on AWS as the 14 vendors combined. In the first quarter of 2016, amazon reported revenue of $2.57 billion and a net income of $604 million, up 64% from the first quarter of 2015, and AWS surpassed amazon’s North American retail business for the first time (BBC, 2015). By 2017, AWS had annual revenue of $17.46 billion (Jordan, 2018). By the end of 2018, AWS’s annual revenue had grown to $25.65 billion.AWS continued to make more benefits in 2019; Amazon reported a 20 per cent increase in sales in 2019, while AWS reported a 37 per cent increase.AWS alone accounted for 12 per cent of amazon’s profits in 2019 (up from 11 per cent in 2018). About 13% of amazon $70 billion in revenue in the quarter came from AWS, and AWS is still growing faster than the company. Its cloud computing service generated $8.38billion in revenue for amazon (Daniel, 2020). The digital model improves Amazon’s business activities and increases revenue by providing services to other companies.

The impact of the digital economy on E-sport player

With the development of digital technology, there are many kinds of jobs which have been affected, while others have been born out of the digital economy. One of the job role affected by the digital economy is a professional electric campaigner. E-sports is also a profession, similar to non-video game competitions such as chess. Because E-sport is supported by the internet or other high-tech platform and carried out by using electronic equipment as sports equipment, it is mainly carried out by intelligent confrontation between people. With the continued progress and innovation of internet technology, it has greatly promoted the rapid development of E-sport. So E-sport did not exist before the advent of big game, and professional E-sports are new class created by the development of the digital economy.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, people from all over the world have carried our E-sport on the internet, a huge platform. And with the development of electronic technology, some large games which have been more and more popular by people. In turn, there are several large international E-sport competitions in the world. For example, WCG (World Cyber Game) in South Korea, CPL (Cyber Playing League) in the United States and E-sport World Cyber in France. In addition, the 18th Asian game in Jakarta in 2018 has to include E-sport as a performance event. The digital economy provides promoting way and platform for the E-sport, which helps E-sport develop fast.

My friend is a great gamer, he spends the amount of time playing the computer game. Once he asked me to accompany him to a tryout at a club, and I knew that there are many professional E-sport players. I had not thought anyone would play gaming their career, and it is unlikely to happen. Now, these E-sport players spend more than ten hours every day practising to improve their skills. The digital economy promotes the development of the E-sport industry, driving the rise of a number of clubs and professional leagues, and changing the development track of the E-sport industry to a large extent. With the promotion of E-sports on digital platforms, some international E-sport competitions offer huge bonuses to the winners, which encourages professional E-sports players to have enough money to support their cost. In 2015, SuperData Research estimated that the global E-sport industry generates about $748.8 million in revenue that year. Asia is the leading E-sports market with more than $321 million in revenue, compared with about $224 million in North America, $172 million in Europe and about $29 million in the rest of the world. Now E-sport is developed very well, professional E-sport players can earn a considerable income in one year after joining a professional team or club.

Due to the E-sport is a new market, surrounding the E-sport related things will emerge, such as current E-sport has formed the upstream-game makers, middle-event and club operations. The downstream-live platform game maker of industry chain holds the game version of the alternation and design of the game, at the same time, the content of the tournament to give for related authorization. The competition is the core resource of the whole E-sport industry, including the competition, club operation and commercial value development. These factors have led to the gradual professionalization and normalization of E-sport players. For example, on November 18, 2003, the general administration of the sport of China officially approved E-sport as the 99th official sports competition. In 2008, Chinese general administration of sport reclassified E-sport as No.78. The European E-sport federation was found in April 2019, the member is the UK, Belgium, Germany and other European countries.

These facts indicate that professional E-sports is becoming more and more standardized and its development has been greatly promoted. The market scale of E-sport industry is still expanding, but the supply of professional talent players is insufficient, and the market is not matched with the supply. Due to the development of the digital economy, professional players have grown from nothing, from non-professional to professional. Moreover, the E-sport player is a new job, high level, high-quality E-sport players, E-sport team coach, E-sport data analysis, E-sport project sparring and other related positions are needed.

In the future, E-sport players will become more and more professional, and some institutions and even schools will be built to train E-sport players to improve the current situation which there are not enough E-sport players. Competition among competitors will also become more and more intense. Professional E-sports will increase with the more new game created. On the other hand, the E-sport players are usually between 24 and 27 years old, their careers are short. When professional E-sport players retire, their future career paths will be an issue, because playing game does not create as much value as other skills. The retired professional E-sport player is not likely to find a new job. As a result, there could be many E-sport players who are unemployed.
